Finding a satisfying meal in the city for under RM15 can feel like a mission, especially with prices creeping up everywhere. But if you know where to look, you can still get a full plate (and a drink!) without breaking your budget.
Whether you’re working in the heart of KL or hanging out around Selangor, here are 10 budget-friendly spots that are still going strong in 2026.
1. Nasi Lemak Wanjo, Kampung Baru

A true legend that needs no introduction. While other “famous” spots have hiked their prices, Wanjo remains surprisingly fair.
You can get a standard plate with their signature sweet-spicy sambal and a piece of Ayam Goreng Berempah for around RM10–RM12. It’s heavy, flavorful, and hits the spot every single time.
Location: Jalan Raja Muda Musa, Kampung Baru, KL.
2. Mansion Tea Stall, Masjid India

Famous for its “Roti Banjir Special,” this is the ultimate budget breakfast or late-night supper. For under RM8, you get two pieces of roti canai drenched in dhal and curry, topped with two soft-boiled eggs and a dollop of sambal. It’s messy, iconic, and incredibly filling.
Location: Selangor Mansion, Jalan Masjid India, KL.
3. Nasi Kahwin Hari Hari, Bukit Bintang

If you’re craving kenduri (wedding) food on a random Tuesday, this is the place. Their sets usually include fragrant Nasi Minyak, a choice of protein (like Ayam Goreng Kunyit or Daging Rose), pickled veggies, and a drink. Most sets hover right around RM10–RM13.
Location: Jalan Berangan (near Bukit Bintang MRT), KL.
4. Yut Kee Restaurant, Chow Kit

Operating since 1928, this Hainanese kopitiam is still a staple. While their famous roast pork is for weekends, their Hainan Mee or Lum Mee are huge portions that will keep you full until dinner for roughly RM12–RM14.
Location: Jalan Kamunting, Chow Kit, KL.
5. Chicken Chop Station, Wisma Central

Located right next to KLCC, this is a hidden gem for office workers. You can score a classic Grilled Chicken Chop with black pepper sauce and sides for exactly RM15 (sometimes less during promos).
It’s one of the few places in the city center where you can get Western food at “school canteen” prices.
Location: Wisma Central, Jalan Ampang, KL.
6. Dharma Realm Guan Yin Sagely Monastery (Food Centre)

For a healthy and incredibly cheap option, head to this canteen. It’s a vegetarian economy rice (Chap Fan) style setup. If you take three veggies and rice, it rarely exceeds RM6–RM8.
Even if you pile on the “mock meat” items, staying under RM15 is effortless.
Location: Lorong Binjai (behind InterContinental Hotel), KL.
7. RSMY House of Real Beriani, Medan Tuanku

You might know them for the cheese naan, but their Roti Canai and smaller Briyani sets are the real budget heroes. A plain Cheese Naan that is basically a meal on its own starts around RM9–RM11.
It’s thick, gooey, and very calorie-dense, perfect for a long day.
Location: Jalan Medan Tuanku, KL (and various Selangor branches).
8. Nasi Lemak Cikgu Sue, Ampang

If you are a fan of Kelantanese-style breakfast and want something more than just your standard nasi lemak, this is the place to go. Nasi Cikgu Sue (also known simply as Nasi Cikgu) has become a neighborhood staple in Taman Dagang for its authentic flavors and generous portions.
What makes it a budget hero? You can easily get a satisfying meal here for well under RM15. Their Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Ala Thai is currently priced around RM11.70, and if you’re looking for something lighter, the Nasi Lemak Telur Mata & Sosej is only about RM7.60.
Location: G-3A, Dagang Avenue, Jalan Dagang B/3a, Taman Dagang, Ampang.
9. Auntie Foo Cafe, Kuala Selangor

If you find yourself further out in Selangor, this cozy kopitiam serves a solid Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang for under RM10. Their Fishball Noodle Soup is also a winner at around RM8.
It’s the perfect pit-stop that doesn’t feel like a “budget” experience because of the nice decor.
Location: Jalan Raja Itam, Kuala Selangor.
10. SS Mixed Rice Store

You can’t talk about budget meals in KL without mentioning the SS “Chap Fan”. It’s the daily fuel for students and workers in the area for a reason.
Location: 45G, Jalan Taman Tan Yew Lai, OG Business Park, 58200 KL
