1. Visit Bako National Park

Bako National Park is a national park in Sarawak’s Kuching Division. It is Sarawak’s oldest national park, having been established in 1957. It has a land area of 27.27 square kilometres and is located at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula, at the confluence of the Bako and Kuching rivers.

Wonderful park with lots of wildlife to see and that has been well preserved. The park has adequate facilities: rooms with fans and bathrooms, all of which are clean and comfortable. There is WiFi, electricity, and a cafeteria that serves decent food. The park is only accessible by boat.

4. Meet Orangutans at Semenggoh Nature Reserve

A natural habitat for orangutans is located just 20 kilometres south of Kuching. The Semenggoh Wildlife Centre of the Semenggoh Nature Reserve is by far Sarawak’s largest Orangutan Rehabilitation Center. It was founded in 1975 as a sanctuary for orangutans who have been injured, orphaned, or are being kept captive as illegal pets. Currently, the centre serves as a habitat for orangutans as well as a learning centre for visitors interested in learning more about the endangered rare species.

The place is in excellent condition, it was clear that Sarawak Forestry made a concerted effort to preserve and maintain the area. It is recommended that you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the feeding time so that you can see the orangutan in action before entering the feeding area.

5. Explore Niah National Park

The Niah Caves limestone cave and archaeological site can be found in Niah National Park, which is located in Miri Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The view is spectacular, and this is a must-see destination in Sarawak. The path and route are well maintained, and trash cans are plentiful. It will be an unforgettable experience.

The Kuching Cat Museum is a cat museum in Kuching. It was established in 1993. The Kuching North City Hall owns it.

Because it is located in a government building, this museum is underrated. There is a small cat accessory near the entrance door and a cheap entrance. Cat lovers should definitely visit!

Sarawak’s Historical Landmark. This complex is rich in history. From the transfer of colonial powers to Sarawakians to the Queen’s visit.

It is now home to Ranee Gallery. Even though the path is quite difficult, just ask the staff. They’ll lead you there. Sarawak Tourism is also located here if you want to learn more about Sarawak.

8. Shop at Medan Niaga Satok

Fondly known as Sunday Market by the local Chinese, while the others would called it Pasar Satok. It used to be located at Satok commercial area but has since been moved to the present location at Kuba Ria.

A good place to buy your groceries, dried salted fish, belacan, dried prawns and others. The prices are negotiable and it’s easy to get parking. It’s a market for all wet and dry stuff. If you’re going you should go early as the stalls start to close after 11am.

9. Relax at Taman Negara Talang Satang

Talang Satang National Park is located in the Kuching Division of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is Sarawak’s first marine protected area, and it includes the four islands of Talang-Talang Besar, Talang-Talang Kecil, Satang Besar, and Satang Kecil, as well as the surrounding coral reefs.

The island looks like a natural forest reserve with beautiful sandy beach. The water is crystal clear with beautiful white sand. It gets very hot, so some sunblock or large hat is needed. Public toilet is available, but since water is brought directly from the mainland, do use it sparingly.

Looking back at the mainland, you can see Mount Santubong in the distance. A must visit.

10. Be fascinated by Gunung Mulu National Park

The Gunung Mulu National Park is located in the Miri Division of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that includes caves and karst formations in the midst of a mountainous equatorial rainforest setting.

You can approach the office to arrange guided tour and they will explain all the details to you. Guides are knowledgeable and helpful. Price for guided tour is reasonable too.
