Jom Explore These 10 Theme Parks in Malaysia

If you’re reading this article you’re probably like me, can’t wait to step foot into another theme park once again. Covid-19 has been with us for more than a year. *sigh* If you’re wondering which theme park to go to next, read on!

Without further ado, let’s explore theme parks in Malaysia! And yes, in this article I will cover theme parks in East Malaysia too. Not gonna leave y’all behind like those free shipping offered by sellers. We got chu fam. 👊

1. Sunway Lagoon, Selangor

If you live in Selangor or KL you’ve probably heard of this one. Sunway Lagoon is arguably considered the most famous theme park in Malaysia.

I have visited Sunway Lagoon multiple times and even own the annual pass. If you’re a huge fan of theme parks, you can check out their deals here: https://sunwaylagoon.com/passport/ or other third party website like Klook.

Sunway Lagoon is home to multiple parks and attractions; water, wildlife, scream 👻, Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, X park (extreme rides) and amusement.

2. Escape Penang

Now this is a theme park which is in my bucket list even before it was even open. As a Penangite, I can’t tell you how proud I am that this theme park has its name in Guinness World Record for the longest water slides. The ride that holds the record actually takes THREE minutes from start to finish. That is almost as long as a song! Colour me impressed.

Most people who have visited Escape left good reviews for them so be sure to check them out if you haven’t!

3. KidZania KL

Don’t let the name put you off, KidZania is entertaining for adults too. My best friend went there when he was 14 years old and although some may find it laughable, I was actually envious because I wanted to tag along but couldn’t 😞

From what he told me, albeit years ago…. It was a fun experience because you get to learn things that you can’t in classrooms.

KidZania is also partnered up with brands like AirAsia, BFM and etc. so you know the equipment they use for the simulations are the real deal! And for most of us, it’s probably the only time we get to pretend to be a pilot or a radio deejay.

4. Legoland Johor

Now this is a theme park that most people in Malaysia and Singapore have heard of. It is a theme park based on the thing that hurts us the most when we stepped on it: LEGOs!

Divided into 4 main parts; Legoland Park, Legoland Water Park, SEA LIFE Aquarium and Legoland Hotel.

The sight of the hotel alone makes me wanna visit this theme park already. Look at the design OMG.

5. Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Genting

I’m not sure if this is counted as a theme park, but it’s definitely an attraction. I visited Ripley’s about a decade ago with my cousins. I barely remember what they have in there but I can recall it was fun!

A lot of picture opportunities so if you wanna take some cool pics for your socials you can pay Ripley’s a visit!

Also prepare to get your mind blown 🤯 because the things you’ll see in there are some pretty crazy, unique, weird stuff.

6. i-City, Selangor

If you like theme parks but hate crowds, this is the place for you! (Except the water park) The park is less crowded on weekdays.

i-City is quite confusing too so make sure you don’t go alone if your sense of direction is as bad as mine. I went with my best friend and we were lost for a bit and even the directional map provided by the park wasn’t helping.

The best thing about the water park here is that the floats are provided to you for FREE.

7. Petrosains, KL

Ooh this is every nerds’ favourite place. Been there a couple times and still won’t get bored.

Petronas is an indoor theme park situated inside Suria KLCC. My favourite thing is the helmet-shaped ride you have to take to go inside after queuing.

This is a park that is not all fun and games, they’re good for your brain too cause you’ll learn a thing or two while you’re in there.

8. A’Famosa Melaka

If you’re an animal lover, this is for you! The animal park is called Sarafi Wonderland. It is home to tigers, crocodiles, rabbits and many more.

Besides that, they have a water park too. But the thing that differs them from others is the Old West park. Cowboys, rustic buildings, country songs and etc. will welcome you when you step into Old West.

9. Stone Age Spa Cultural Park, Sabah

Saya ini, Original Sabahan 🎶 This song immediately comes to mind when I see the word Sabah. Coincidently the song plays on my Spotify just before I started writing this 😆 I’m not Sabahan but this song is the bomb!

Stone Age Spa Cultural Park definitely lives up to its name for the stone part. As you can see from the picture they have multiple gigantic rocks.

This is a ‘theme park’ for your mind and soul. Instead of screaming your lungs out at exhilarating rides, you relax here.

One of their attractions here is lying on top of the stones which apparently have healing properties and can cleanse your aura. Nice!

10. D’Virtual Park, Sarawak

Not sure about you but the first word that came to mind was “Woah!” when I saw the picture. Looks like something out of Star Trek movies, which I haven’t seen and probably would never 🙈 cause I’m not a fan of movies set in space. They just bore me to death.

If you live in West Malaysia, fret not because you can visit their branch in Evo Mall, Selangor. I’m jotting this down in my bucket list as well.

D’Virtual Park in Sarawak opened its doors to the public on the 17th June 2020 as the first ever virtual park in the heart of Borneo. This 13-million-ringgit project is significant not only in boosting tourism into the state but also to elevate Sarawak as one of the frontrunners in transforming the digital landscape not just locally, but on a global scale.

If you think the entrance fee is gonna burn your pocket, don’t worry because they offer a few packages.
